Extractor, not ejector, thats the blade on the left side of the frame that tosses the brass the extractor pulls out. The old style are a single piece that use a curve or bend to create spring tension and hold the case. The new (exterior ones) use a spring and a hook on a pivot point. The old style work fine most of the time but when they get tired they can be a bit of a black art to get working again. As much as I like the appearance of the slide without the modern extractor, If I was to buy a new 1911, thats the design I'd want.
