shooting some reloads the other day, and started noticing that i was getting a lump on my brass where the ejector pin is. These loads were well below max.According to the manual), speed was as expected(i'm at work now, don't have the numbers with me). I did not see any other signs of pressure no flat primers and no difference in bolt lift. 2 of 5 shots did this, then i stopped.
270 win.

I have had this happen before and also have seen others have the same issue with less than Max loads.

Could be that the lot of brass you are using is softer than normal.

No, that is a high pressure sign. Back off your load 10% and work back up. Normal loads and normal pressures do not cause brass to bulge anywhere on the base.

Traditional pressure signs are notoriously unreliable. I'm of the opinion that when you get to the point that you have ejector marks, flat primers, loose pockets or self-depriming cases, you're in hostile territory. Back off and approach again.

The lot of brass you are using is probably a bit on the "soft" side, and pressure signs are evident. You are above safe pressures with that lot of brass if ejector marks are visible. As has been suggested, back off and rework your load to safe pressures for the components you are using. Regards, Eagleye.
