I am working on the bolt head for my 223 Lee Enfield build and need a little help. I have a 1/8 hole drilled in the bolt head for an ejector pin but I don`t have a spring to put behind the pin. I can order a 1/8 diameter spring but I don`t know what to order in terms of wire size or lbs tension, Any help would be appreciated. Could someone tell me what I need or maybe someone may know of something else that uses the same type/size of spring.
Thanks in advance, G

There has got to be a spring that could be salvaged that would fit a 1/8" hole, and have the necessary tension. I'll check the parts bins, might have something.

I'd bet 1/8" is too big to start with, but you can buy assorted springs at Princess Auto, as I recall. Likely would have been better to move the ejector screw.

You'll likely need to play around with a few options. But from playing with sprung side ways ejectors I'd suggest that you want a strong enough spring that a loaded round, not just an empty casing, will jump with some degree of power and arc to a place out about 2 feet to the side. Empties will spring out with a little more speed and more like 3 to 4 feet of distance. Or if held so they'll travel straight up after release you want a loaded round to jump a good foot and an empty to make it to around a foot and a half.

Found a little rather stiff spring. Small enough that it could go inside a .125" diameter plunger ejector.
PM your mailing address if you could use it.

Grease nipples/zerk fittings have nice little balls and springs that may help. Just file off the rear of the fitting till the spring is loose. Pull it out and the ball and there ya go. Spare parts
