Ejectorless Colt Thunderers - Question

On an ejectorless model revolver with a loading gate, a short barrel Colt Thunder for example, how do you eject the shells? Would you have kept a tool with you to do that?

A pencil, a pocketknife, a pipe tamper, a nail...etc.

Yeah, carry a tool to use if required.

The guns without ejectors were not exactly sold for the guys that wanted something interesting to take to the range.

If you notice the head of the base pin than runs through the cylinder is very over sized on the so called shop keeper and sheriffs models, you just pull out the base pin pop out the cylinder and use the pin to poke pot the empties. Although with the low pressure black powder loads in these guns the empties probably would just drop out.
