Hey all,

Well, my budget for a 1911 was 900bux and I managed to get a great deal on a springfield with accessories for 550. The problem im noticing that she just looks so alone in the safe - and therefore need to find a useful way to spend the rest of the money  . Now I know most of you guys are gonna say "save up" and buy something worthwhile, but being a student and all, that just isnt going to happen as my summers income is already spoken for (bills, visa, etc.). So im heading to the bigazz gun show on friday, and am wonderin what kind of deals should I be lookin to snag? Im definatley thinking a .22LR wheelgun, or 9 mm. Also, how are the Norc. Hi-Powers? I figure it would be neat to have 2 of the most famous browning designs? Thanks boys!

Cheers,
Duncan

The nork's don't have much at all in common with real Hi-powers. Stay far, far away. If your looking for a cheap 9mm I would try and find a NP29. They are a single stack (9 round magazine) 1911 style. Ive also heard good things about the sig copies. If your looking for a 22, a ruger 22/45 would probably fit the bill, they are a great gun and pretty cheap.

I was lookin at norc 9mm's but seeing as how it will be my last purchase for quite a while, Id prefer something different. Ill have to check out those rugers? pricing on a beater(I dont feel like getting ripped off at the gun show)?

if you do end up with a norc 9mm go with the np-22 (sig copy). Mine has been great (0 failures in 1500 rounds so far) and they look pretty decent if you swap out the crappy plastic grips.

then again, ive also wanted a .22lr revolver for quite some time, just never got around to getting one.

If you're not reloading, get a .22 (real cheap ammo). If you have to feed a .45 and a 9mm with factory loads... well being a "student" your social life (beer & women) will suffer. Life without beer, think about it!!!

An underrated .22 revolver is a High Standard Sentinel, or Double Nine. These usually shoot very well, and can generally be had for 1 - 2 hundred. I paid 2 for mine, as new in the box. $125 seems more like it for a slightly used one. Don't overlook the older H&R revolvers either. Think there is one in the EE now.
Given a choice of one of these and a Norinco 93, I think I'd pick the revolver.
Bit more money? A Smith K-22, Model 17 is a winner.

Get a Nork Tokarev, dirt cheap, and the ammo is equally cheap, plus it has a great 'kick' and makes lots of noise.

I was just leafing through my SIR spring and summer catalogue. They have an interesting looking 9mm called Arcus Model 94 for $399.99. Never heard of it, but it looks pretty handsome for the price.
