Hi I am new here and I am torn between Elcan 1.5-6 and Leupold mark 6 3-18.I have not been able to handle neither of them but from the looks of it I would have to pick one but the key is to buy once cry once.I love everything about the Elcan but the price and Leupold I can find those at prices that I don't mind spending! My question is aimed at those who have first hand experience with one or the other.I really would like to be able to use my Scar Heavy for cqb but also have some range also.Is 3-18 out the question for CQB?Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Elcan is designated as a all around combat optic with CQB abilities and rapid adjustment to extended ranges, the Mark 6 3-18x44 is designed for precision shooting in a very small and compact package & has a tiny weapons print when in use. The SCAR heavy has a documentated history of Spectre DR use and in my opinion would be your best choice, I currently own several of each of the optics that yuou are inquiring about...

To me the advantage of the Leupold is the target turret so you can dia in for distance and wind. I use an Elcan 0S3.0 for CQB and Service Rifle for a total range of distance of 10-500 yards/m. Either of the optics you described would be great for that same range of distance or more.

Of the two, I'd lean Leupold I think but I like to dial for distance and wind (at extended ranges)

Thank you all for taking time out to answer my questions!I am going to roll with Elcan for several reasons but mainly that's the optic that I want the most. Thanks again for taking the time out to give your opinions.

The thing is with the Elcan is that you're either at 1.5x or 6x - nothing in between via the switch.

The variable of the Leupold (granted minimal magnification is 3x) allows you to adjust it to anything you want in between 3 and 18x so to me it would be hard to compare both optics for the same wanted use as they function quite differently.

I sure wouldn't mind shooting through a Mark 6. Elcan offers fantastic glass too so it's not like you'll be dissapointed with the quality of either product.

Honestly,I thought about Mark 6 1-6 as I can get a great deal on that one too.I should have listed that as one of my choices to.Which scope rings do you all suggest?Leupold or LaRue or something totally different?
