Hi all,

I got a C79 I bought off of here a few years ago. Always assumed it was an A2 (because he told me it was) but now I'm kind of curious as to how I can tell for myself? What are the tell tale signs that to look for that distinguishes an A1 from an A2?

Here are some pics if they help (And the Imgur link if you need to see Og pics https://imgur.com/a/t3fCWmU)

Appears to be an a2, it has the updated mod with the cross slot for a roll pin and tension spring to apply tension to the optic tube, to alleviate the wandering zero the first ones were prone to, it should also have metal tightening knobs . The cf ones that have been revamped will also indicate this by having engraving c79a2 on the left side of the upper part of the base . Still did not fix the problem of wandering zero very well. Maybe some serving cf nutters can add more.

The A2 markings only showed up with the Canadian Average Green ones on the C7A2. Even then I think the markings are missing from any commercial sales. Prior to that the mounts were brought up to the same spec by modding the existing mount or installing a new base as yours appears to be.
