Elcan C79 play

Hey all,

I just picked up an elcan C79 and when it is mounted with the wing nuts tight the optic has a very slight bit of play.

The play seems to be between the actual scope and the mount base as there is no play between the mount and the receiver. It appears to be a later generation mount with the tension spring and it returns to it's original position.

Is this normal for this optic? I have never really played around with one before.

Yeah Ive seen that. Some of them have that happening. It`s primarily vertical play correct? The older version had that problem bad. If its the newer ones it would likely have C79A2 engraved on the mount itself.

You'll know right away if you have a lemon when you group it. If it's not a lemon, it will probably work great for you. The ones that hold zero are actually very good.
 
Yeah it's not one of the brand new green C79A2. It's probably one of the latest gen of the older black ones. It has the tension spring in the mount supposedly to help maintain zero. I was reading on some other forms and some people were experiencing the same thing with their spectre DR's but they still held zero.
