Elcan M145 reviews?

Does anyone own one of these in Canada?

Good, bad, ugly?

Yep. I got one and think its great. Its been discussed on previous posts, however, and the M 145 doesn't get rave reviews from the professionals, predominantly I think, due to durability issues.

Mine is mounted on a PE 90 and I've had no problems whatsoever. Then again, I'm not in the military so don't put gear through its paces like they do. Its a little on the heavy side but a good clear, quality optic IMHO. The quick mount system works as advertised and re-zero/re-centers perfectly every time.

I've currently got the Regular Elcan on my PE. Was contemplating picking one of these up and swapping it out (that or a leupold 6.5-20).

Can't decide between the two.

The reticle is certainly interesting. I can only seem to find places selling them and no reviews. Is the LED good? Worth the Money?

LED works fine. It adjusts in increments from barely discernible to too bright. The reticle horizontal hash marks represent 19 1/2 " (the distance across a man's shoulders) out to 800 yds in 100 yard increments except for the centre X hair @ 300 yds. The reticle is a peach and the M145's strong point I'd say.

The thing about the M145 is that you aren't constantly adjusting the base like with the regular Elcan. Simple to use, no moving parts and versatile.

Is it worth the $$ ? Depends on what you pay for it compared to other scopes like the Horus Talon for instance. There's an awful lot to choose from these days.
