I just picked up an Elcan C79A2. Unfortunately, it didn't come with a manual. Does anyone know where I might be about to download one? I didn't see a link on Armament Tech's site.

here's your manual:

1. Remove scope from rifle

2. Throw in garbage

3. Shake head for actually buying a piece of crap scope. :)

Seriously Armament tech should be able to help you out.

A2?

Military issue or the stolen one that was floating around?

If it is a civilian sale scope that has C-79A2 on the Left hand side, return it to the person from whom you bought it and demand that they return your money. It is stolen CF property.

There are 2 of C-79A2 scopes in civie hands right now, both in the posession of employees of Armament Technology.

Isn't that what the Elcan scopes are called? C79A2?

I picked this up from CGN last week. I'll need to take a closer look at it at home this evening.

So you're saying if it says C79A2 on the mount it's stolen property? That's for sure????

This scope has the C-79A2 on the left side of the mount.

If you bought a scope like this, it would be stolen.

Period.

C79 is what the 'normal; elcan is called.

C79A2 is the new CF one. I believe the rubber is green on these ones...

Yop, they also change the screw, no more plastic crap (the old one, you could not tight too much...)

They keep their zero a lot better (was on range recently, still dead center)

Yeah,

The elevation drum is no longer bolted on from below, it's press fit into a keyed slot...on the Gen I/2 scopes, if the bolt came loose, the whole elevation drum could spin freely....not so good.

The "new and improved" scope has the same issues with loss of zero. the improved elevation drum still has issues with coming loose, although not with the alarming frequency of the gen 1 systems,I have yet to finish a range practice at the unit without an Elcan crapping out somewhere along the line. We had issues with the gen II overseas as well.
