Hello all.


Like many south of the border I have always been a little fascinated by the C7 rifles.
I first encountered them at Connaught Range near Ottawa 20 years ago..

Have owned a couple older version c79s in the past and recently just picked up another.
I'm curious how one can tell if the c79 has a "gen4" mount? The one I picked up is in a commercial box, marked Elcan "Made in Canada" and has a 1999 date.
Tritium is getting dim, but you can still see it a bit at night...

Also, wonder where a guy could find a green cover for one? Mainly just curious on the cover....
 
check out kijiji and marketplace as there is a surplus near vermillion, AB that seems to have the covers on sale fairly frequently.

I've actually seen the Nordic Marksman site before. I wrote him a couple times asking about green covers (among other items) and never received a reply. I think perhaps he doesn't ship to the USA?
 
I don't know if the factory is still running, it can't hunt to ask.

Elcan knockoffs got quite popular with the airsoft crew and they snapped up most of the covers which would make sense since more people would have the $300 Chinese model than the several thousand dollar real Elcan so maybe look for some Canadian airsoft sites and forums to see if anyone is selling one.
 
Nordic has the green covers on right now for 69 bucks (Feb 2021) and there’s a guy on the optics exchange parts has a Gen 4 base for sale for 450 he says he bought new from Nordic a few years ago but didn’t use it. —Dieseldog!
