Electric Coyote Call

So for you guys that call coyotes in all the time. Whats the success ratio? How many stands before you call one in? I know it depends on population and area but I'm just asking your experiences.

If we go less than 1 for 3, we get depressed. We have gone 0 for 5 on occasion, but at the same time we will get a 3 for 4 day and it averages out over the winter to about 1:3. If we count the ones that came to have a look, but which we din't spot until we give up and started to move on, or find their tracks on the way back to the truck, we call more than that. I'm just talking about the ones we actually get to play with (and sometimes actually shoot). One important key is to call where coyotes actually live, and another is to not call the day after someone tried the same spots and educated them. I think if they are not educated, they hear you call, and didn't hear you arrive, they will come to examine just about any weird sound you can make. That's why mouth calls are our choice. They work.

its not the alpha dogs fault.......a fox pro does not attract animals any better.............

Just like better golf clubs don't make you play better, you only look better... :)

Lots of great calls out there (hand calls combined with some sort of e-caller seem to work best for me).... Keep your ecaller on all the time, keep it on a low volume, (so it doesn't need to be expensive) then scream out with hand calls and when the coyote eventually shows up, you shut-up and let the ecaller draw the coyote into position for the shot...

Getting into the set quietly, sitting comfortably (so you don't move) and playing the wind is far more important than the type of e-caller you use.... Remember that and you will see more coyotes guaranteed...Its not easy but it is sure exciting when you have one coming in.

Best of luck

Thanks everyone. I know you can't get quality cheaply, but money is tight and something is usually better than nothing. We hunt ducks over a dozen decoys bought for $100 at Canadian Tire. Maybe not the best but it's all we needed to get out and learn.

By a Foxpro refurbished from their website.

I purchased a Primos Alpha dog from Cabela's all said and done it came to .338, oops I mean $338. Very loud, comes with preloaded sound tracks (hunts) on it, made 35 stands so far with her but still nothing (Seen two owls aswell!). Most likely upgrade to a higher end fox pro next.

hate to say it but 35 stands with no luck leads me to believe either you are doing something wrong or are just not in the right area. i have used both primos and foxpro and both bring in coyotes the same. you mention it being loud. are you playing it at max volume? if so i would turn it way down and only use max vol when calling huge open areas.
