Just a heads up for the OP - was doing some more reading and using stainless steel in this process can be dangerous. Creates a poisonous gas and solution that's harmful to most things and hard to get rid of, so plain iron or regular steel is better for the electrode (and avoid doing this to stainless guns altogether I assume).
The gas formed is hexavalent chromium and the solution has chromium in it. In small amounts it's tolerable, but seeing as it's an easily avoided problem, may as well not take the risk.
Still, the process works like a hot damn.
