A little bird told me that Alberta is finally taking a small step into the real world and allowing the use of electronic callers for snow geese next season.:dancingbanana:

Hopefully with more pressure they will allow them for predators as well.

Why Snowgeese? (They must be regularly eating up some MLA's crops...)

As far as pressure goes, is there any organization currently lobbying for the expanded use of electronic callers for predators?

(it would be nice to use a certain Foxpro of the local 'yote population...)

Even though mouth-blown calls work too;)

Most places allow electronics for predators and snow geese. The snow geese populations are out of control to the point that they are destroying their nesting grounds.

The AFGA recommended the use of electronics in this next hunting season.

Handcalls are effective, and the electronics are as well . just another tool not a magic wand.

I've called all kinds of predators here and in Africa with hand calls, but when calling the larger ones like cougar, it would be good to have the caller away from the hunter and use a remote.

It could get western with the larger predators.

When your hunting partner (positioned 100 yards away) asks you "Why didn't you shoot the one behind you?" and you see fresh coyote tracks a few feet behind your position, it does make you wonder whether it might not be a bit smarter to have a remote caller attracting the predator to a place you can watch (in front) instead of playing wounded rabbit yourself.

It would be nice if they opened it up for electronic predator calls next year.
