electronic callers??

I'm thinking that you should check the regs and make sure it is legal to use them to hunt big game in your province they are not legal here in BC.

far as i can tell in Ontario at least you can use electronic callers for anything with fur. and cant on anything with feathers.

Im going to try my Wildlife Technologies for moose in a few weeks......actual recordings and louder than anything else....I have a lot of calls but mostly geared to coyote which I dont' have much of in these parts.

I ve been coyote hunting with my Johnny Stewart prey master for a couple years. It works great, more than enough volume. I have the corded model but the cordless is still pretty cheap.

I'm sure that in Ontario e-callers are legal for everything but birds.

I gave used the Foxpro 416 and the Johnny Stewart PM-4. I still have the PM-4 and it works really well; it is a bit finicky like an old nintendo system, you got to blow on the cartridges sometimes to make it work but it is a top notch system.

can we stick to the topic please. I can use electronic callers in NB to hunt anything that I'm allowed to hunt. thanks

Look at the Foxpro Line. Pretty much the top electronic caller on the market. They aren't cheap however. The FX3 or FX5 should handle most anything you'll need one for. Can download your own sound files, good remote and quality speakers.

What calls do you use because I think mine is jinxed?

I have 4 of the coyote/predator cards. I use them interchangeably. I tend to use the howls and barks to find coyotes. After I locate a response I set up and wait 15-20min then use prey sounds to lure them in.

I usually just use the caller to get them to within range of my hand calls and use them to bring them in to a shot under 250 yards. Once I can see them well and have a good shot I stop calling and let it run to till it chooses to stop or I bark or yelp to make it stop so I can shoot.

I've had good success just leaving the caller in my small camo caller bag and just leaving it beside me or I hang it up in a tree 10-20ft away to get the sound elevated, this is great for the winter so I don't make a pile of tracks infront of my setup. Coyotes notice tracks in fresh snow quite easily and are very weary of them.

I also have a rabbit dog toy on a coat hanger that makes a good decoy, it flutters in the wind pretty good. I usually just us it in large fields where they can see far or I put it right on a fence line aswell.

Except migratory birds, which hunting is federally regulated (and excepting the specific exemptions permitted under the Migratory Birds Regulations).

That aside, I have been very happy with my Foxpro FX3. No complaints. I have heard that the Wildlife Tech is louder, but I am not sure if that makes it worth the extra cash. (E-callers are expensive enough as it is!)
