electronic calls in Alberta!!!!!!!

In the 2009 Alberta hunting draws book it says this:

Electronic calls can now be used to hunt crows, black billed magpie, coyote, red fox and wolf (using sounds that mimic the animals or rodents).

I take this to mean that you cannot have sounds like “fawn in distress” on the caller.
Only rodent sounds and the sounds the crows, coyotes, etc., themselves make.

It says "using" the sounds, so I would think that just "having" the sounds on the caller wouldn't be a no-no. Maybe you also hunt in a province or state that allows other calls to be used. In this day and age of 100+ recorded sounds on a caller, it wouldn't be unheard of to have fawn in distress in amongst your other calls. Granted, it could probably be open to interpretation. For instance, if they catch you in deer season sitting in a stand with your Fox Pro set up next to a deer decoy and you're holding your trusty .300 Win Mag, I'm betting you might be hard pressed to explain yourself even if they didn't actually "catch" you playing the obvious deer calls.

Electronic Calls

I am glad to see that electronic calls have finally been allowed. That being said, I have used them and they can make your stands successful but do not give up on those hand calls. Hand calls are just as good once you get the knowledge.

I like the use of Electronic calls on stands such as bear or wolf where the calling might be for almost an hour.

Once you guys that use hand calls figure it out, it is one of the most enjoyable sports out their in my opinion.

PS - Give old Redfrog a call, he sells Foxpro which is one of the best on the market. I am sure he would gladly help you out with the sale and tips on calling.
