What are you guys using? I had the Howard Leight Impact Sport but they fit very poorly and did not work for me. The Peltor Tactical Sport with the gel cups seem very popular with the IPSC crowd but I am concerned they would not allow a good cheek weld with a rifle or shotgun stock. Is there a reasonably priced Peltor alternative that has a lower profile but will still take the HY80 gel ear cups?

I use the MSA Supreme Pro-X muffs. Works fine for 3G and no issues with cheeks welds, etc. Not sure if the gel cups you mentioned would fit.

MSA sordins from site sponsor SRS tactical. I find plugs too annoying, wanna talk? Out one comes, wanna shoot ? Back in, don't get them in before someone fires .... ouch. The sordins pro are expensive but allow an excellent cheek weld for rifle. Not the best for indoor shooting, the peltors are better, higher NRR. Definitely get the gel cups. Both brands have gel available. I use sordins pro x for outside/rifle and the peltors tactical pro for indoors. By all means try plugs, some like them, cooler for summer for sure. This is my opinion only, I have excellent hearing and want to keep it that way. Shoot IPSC and don't have issues with them moving or falling off. I know what I'm talking about isn't cheap, but I know what hearing aids and batteries cost. lol

I had problems with Peltor muffs and cheek weld, batteries, etc.

I'm running MSA Soren Pro now and love them. I had to do the sizing mod, but I have a big cranium and it was very easy.

Best muffs I've owned, and now I use them at work as well.

Ok, thanks guys. I will have a look at the MSA as well as the Peltor.

I use plugs now and they offer good noise reduction (30 dB), too good in fact. My first match last weekend I was DQ'd on the first stage as I couldn't hear a warning from the RO.

So just got the Peltor Tactical Sport with the gel ear seals. Wow what a difference compared to the Howard Leights. A little bulky but I can still get an acceptable cheek weld so they should work well.

SRS Tactical had the best price by far.

Difference in what way?

Fit, comfort and function. The Howard Leights did not fit me well which was the main issue. But the sound quality was also not very impressive, there was always some sort of high frequency noise or feedback even at a normal volume. The Peltors are just better all around. Granted, they were 3 times the price so I would hope so.
