I'm in the market for a electronic predator call. I have prime coyote hunting land I can hunt from. I was looking at Cabela's yesterday and there is a broad range in price. Anyone have suggestions for a unit around 200 bucks?

I know lots of guys like the electronics, but don't discount mouth calls. I've used both, and prefer my sub $100 colection of Carver and primos calls. Anyone who says mouth calls aren't loud enough, the two dogs I called in from almost a mile with Carver's coaxer say otherwise. Thats my quietest call...

But if you're set on one, the Wildfire 2 is a good choice. Electronics are nice for unique recordings, like piglets or exotic distress sounds. Apparently even young elephant distress works well lol.

The wildfire series are good but have poor remotes. I just bought a Fury II and the remote is very good. The remotes with no antenna are Great range and very responsive. Dont go cheap..you will regret it. Here is a few dogs from my last outing a week ago.

A good quality e-caller (e.g. Foxpro) is a useful tool, but as has been pointed out, don't count out the utility and flexibility of traditional mouth calls.

If you do decide on hand calls I would avoid any with a metal reed. All my hand calls have plastic reeds. My favorite is the Red desert Howler.....that little beast is loud and is easy to howl with. Id avoid the Randy Anderson stuff too its pretty cheap.

Don't cheap out go with a fox pro right off the bat and it will serve you well for years to come
and it's always nice to have a emergency mouth call handy too

Feel the same way...Kerry's calls are outstanding and nice to look at as an added bonus.
