Eley Ammunition

So one of our ammo wholesalers, Korth Group, which already is a major source for Hornady has just become a distributor for Eley ammunition (a UK company).

Their line-up (Eley) is only 22LR and it looks like their "target audience" is the match/biathlon shooter.

Does anybody have any experience with this brand?

I'm trying to gauge whether this would be a viable line to carry. It would come at a (very) premium price going from about the 10 to 30 buck range for fifty (50) rounds for their different offerings.

Any experience would be appreciated.
 
It works quite well. The tip of the bullet looks a little different on some of it.
I found it to be very consistent.
As far as bringing it in for retail, it will sell to serious target folk. Plinkers and hunting types might not be impressed when it's the only option left in stock. If the target people know you have it they will seek it.
 
Thanks for the replies so far and the link to the Lapua stuff - looks to be in the same price range.

While I blast through tons of 22LR myself I have never even looked at the "quality stuff" - totally unfamiliar with what the "serious shooters" are using.

Me neither. I just ordered more cci mini mags which I figured was higher end 22 ammo (which I'm fine with for my semi auto pistol shooting). I figured the "quality stuff" was either hard to find or insanely priced. Looks like I'm going to have to give some of these other manufacturers a go and see what the difference is which a bolt rifle
 
I would probably try some eley but the price and avaiability is not as good as the Lapua and SK.I get those frequently and a pretty decent price from Clay at Prophet River.Reliable has a few types of eley but its cub ammo at a high price.Im getting centerx at $11.50/50,not bad for good ammo.
 
Have always used Eley in my competition rifles.
Great accuracy and can't remember when I had a dud.
RWS is a great option too.

For quality they are the top tier worldwide. For availability I've only been able to special order the "good stuff" from select suppliers around the country. Any local store might have a brand or two of the "mid-grade" Eley/Rem or RWS.
 
Most using this sort of high end target ammo are shooting rifles worth 5-10X the cost of the typical 10-22 shooter. Pretty sure Glamb works at a CT, so great stuff for personal target use, but a analogy......it would be like showing up to a bush fire party with $500/bottle champagne.
 
I was buying Eley "Practice" for $6/50 from Selins a couple of years ago and it was fantastically accurate ammo for the price. I would buy it again if it ever became available.

No doubt, the bolt 22 I'm using is a savage mk tr which is by no means a high quality precision shooter but I would like to try a box of SK rifle match just for sh*ts and giggles. It may not make much or any difference with this gun...but there is only one way to find out.

I wouldn't say that at all... I shoot Eley, SK/Lapua etc out of Savage mark 2's, Norinco NS522 and CZ 455's and it makes a big difference on paper.

If you are shooting targets for 'groups' you'll basically need high end consistency. it shows on the target. If I was just shooting at pop cans at 100 yards I'd use a bucket of bullets or whatever other Canadian tire has on the shelf...
