Hey guys,

Has anyone tested Eley’s high velocity “Force” ammo in a bolt action .22? My Tikka T1x enjoys CCI SV at 50m, but when pushed to 100M it suffers (more than it should). My local shop told me guys are using these with great success at distance - 100m, 200m etc. I bought 2 boxes to try.

I know this ammo is for semi autos, but has anyone in the bolt action world tried these at long range?

Thanks guys,
Colin

Try it, you wont be disappointed. My mk2 bsev loves it. It also shoots cci sv fantastic at 50, but not so fantastic at 100+. I tried the eley force and am very happy.

That's great news! I was worried everyone was going to tell me to not waste my time!

It works amazing in my 10/22. My buddy got so excited he tried out in his rrpr and it was a completely different beast, shooting 3-4 moa at 50 yards... I wouldn't tell you not not try it, but I'd discourage you from buying it in bulk until you try it.

I had the same question in the spring, had a cz 455 that loved it but got out to 250 and had better groups from the sk match and cci sv

I have not shot either of them that far, but in my rifle I found the eley more accurate. I wasn't shooting groups tho I was shooting a 4"×4" steel plate that I spray painted orange.

force worked great in my T1x out to 300 yards. after switching barrels it doesnt like it as much. as scuba said, the SK match and cci SV has actually performed much better ( for me anyway ) best option is to sit down and buy a bunch of different boxes and shoot them and see what works the best.

Thanks for this everyone. Yeah I've run SK Rifle, CCI SV, Eley Contact... SK Rifle and CCI SV were the best, CCI SV won out overall. Bought 5000 rounds of the stuff when Tenda had a sale. Love it at 50M but thinking about the longer range stuff. I'll try this high velocity Eley Force and see if she likes it. It's fun to experiment

At 50 its kind of meh in my MkII, but at 100 it's amazing! Heading to the range tomorrow to try it at 196 yards (longest distance at my range.) Since I'm mostly shooting action rimfire/CPRS with this rifle, the distance performance interests me a lot.

Within my group shooting at 50 yards, 100 yards and 100 meters the most common ammo usage is Eley Match grades, Lapua CenterX and to a lesser extent Midas with Act being a loser.
A few use some of the lesser grades of Eley (Contact and target) out of sporter rifles.
Using Federal Match 922A in my CZ455 American, 3 and 4 inches at 192 yards.
Eley Team with velocities 1073 and 1074 from a BSA Martini MkII and target sights at 300 yards . . . 7.25 for 7 shots and 6.75 for 5 shots.
Normally sighted in for 100 meters and requires 40 minutes of elevation to go to 300 yards.
Have to try this again but with wind flags.
Regardless, most guns will show a preference to one brand and in some cases to a specific velocity.
I don't know how much elevation I can achieve with my Leupold 45 x 45 Competition and currently it is working well with Remington Eley Match at 1062 velocity. That is for another day.
Once you find what works best it is time to buy a case.

I took my Eley Force out to the range today and tested at 100M. I compared CCI SV and the Eley Force in my Tikka T1x.

I have 5 shot groups with the CCI SV around an inch, the Eley Force averaged about 1.5", with a random flyer in every group. I didn't get to test them out further than 100M, but after my testing I'm going to stick with my CCI SV. For me, SK Rifle Match and CCI SV seem to be the rifles favourite ammo.
