Eley Target 22lr

I tried them and they were very similar in performance to Federal's Gold Match. Interestingly my rifle (Sako Finnfire) likes PMC Zappers and shoots them just as well as th GM and Eley. The best accuracy was from RWS's R50, but since I do not compete, and the small advantage it provides, it is not worth the extra $. I suggest you try a bunch of different brands, a cheap box may suprise you!

.22 rifles are finicky little creatures. I have tried over a dozen brands and found that PMC Scoremaster is the best for my rifle, a Remington 541T. Your mileage will vary. Some people have found that certain match grade brands will shoot as good as, or as bad as the cheap stuff in their guns.

I suggest going to your local gun shop and picking up a single box of everything the have. Find what works best for you.

As a case in point, I have found that everything I've ever tried from Eley is just awful, including the high grade match level stuff, whereas other people swear by it.

If you are shooting indoors at 20-25 you will not really see much difference.
Outdoors 50 yards, 50 meters and 100 yards even 200 yards you will see a big difference.
Last spring before the fullbore season started I thought I would get the cobb webs out by shooting some smallbore. Using my Anshutz rifle I fired some groups with some unknown brand of ammo. I was horrified, thinking I had lost any shooting skill I may have had, over the long winter.
Switched over to Eley Tennex red box and fired 5 groups from 50 yards that you could cover with a quarter :D

If your target of choice is pop cans at 20 yards, and your rifle of choice is a single shot Cooey, Eley is not worth the $$$. If you want to compete with a match rifle Eley or Lapua or RWS is the way to go. Some will shoot a bit better then others and finding a good lot that your rifle likes is now in order.
If you are looking for something a little cheaper for practice, CCI Green Tag will work.

Like any other brand of .22 ammo you'll have to buy a box and see if your rifle or pistol likes them. If you're thinking a .22 target pistol, they may or may not cycle the action. Even the Eley ammo made for target pistols may not cycle the action. It certainly doesn't in my S&W 41, but it might in another. .22 ammo isn't only finicky, it's outright daft.

Thanks guy's that's what i was looking for :D I'll try some in my target rifle 50-100yrds and see what happens. Also I'll try to see if they cycle in my target pistol for ####s and giggle's.

one suggestion if your going to try the eley or other high end makers RWS Lapua make sure you record the lot number and the store your buy from has sufficent quanity available. It s really pain in the butt to find a certain lot that shoots well in your rifle only to find out that there is no more available. You end up having to start the process all over again.
