Elite 6500 Made in China, Who Cares?

It took 45 years for Japanese products to be acceptable, china has only 45years to go.

The difference is that most of the high end products that are "Made in China" are made with machines that have been made in Japan, Europe, or the USA.

The Chinese will catch up REALLY quickly, give them 10 to 15 years and there will be some really high grade goods coming out of China. (but they will also still be selling the cheap junk)

Why will the quality go up? Because their own growing middle class will demand better quality and will have the money to start paying for better quality.

Interesting - where are 'we' (North Americans) defined?

I was at Princess Auto today and know that quality has a threshold. Some people are willing to only pay so much and as a result the quality will stop there. Wouldn't it be something if this new lower quality threshold became the standard, set by China, because it can?

+1, I'm always amazed at the volumes of people who only shop on price. Even when they know they're buying junk that won't do the job they're still willing to buy more of the same junk three times over instead of getting quality first. Go figure.
I was under the understanding that all " elite" scopes were made in Japan. I just checked my 3200 and the box and scope are marked " made in Japan".

I worked at a brake shoe warehouse where they pulled shoes out of imported from China containers and put them in individual boxes.
The boxes said "Made in Canada" on them with a picture of the brake shoes.
This was allowed becuase the box was indeed made in Canada,it didn't say that the shoes were ;)

Watch what you pay for..

As for the "Made In China" worries, well I dont think we need to worry much, especially from a company like Bushnell, who have quality standards. The company I'm currently employed with imports and has China do a lot of the manufacturing. Why do we trust the chinese? Our engineers along with our CEO go over there to do audits before manufacturing to ensure that all quality standards(ISO 9001) are being met. After an extensive audit and prototypes, testing, and then a final audit. Audits come right up from paper work up front right down to how your cars are parked outside. Once all criterias are met, then is manufacturing is allowed. During manufacturing, strict quality controls are maintained through regular visits to China. We've never had a problem with there quality as it is us importers who control that quality. Pay the money and get the quality. As far as I know, Bushnell Elites are not made in China. Some of their other optics are however made in the phillipines.
