Just wondering what priority it takes to get drawn for bull moose or antlered elk in WMU 200 here in Alberta.

I was a three for moose, and a five for elk going in this year.

Just wondering how long it has taken other guys to get drawn there?

I'd think your chances are pretty good for elk. Lot's of tags on the base this year, people with priority must have been debating where to apply. I'm P7 for bull elk and was debating the base bull hunts. In the end I decided to try for a cow tag and see how this years bull hunts go/what priority it takes to pull a tag in the different seasons.
Guess we'll know on the 16th. :)

Frustrating to say the least I put in for a cow moose tag for years in 402 and never got drawn and then they closed the season permanant. Had to start all over.

If you have been applying for antlerless moose for years, you don't lose that priority just because they closed the season in one wmu.

Your priority would not have changed. It applies province wide, not to a specific WMU.

I don't know, Nate. I don't hunt that far south. I do know it takes no more than a pri 4 here (lots of guys get them). That being said, I choose cows since I get drawn every second year for one and only hunt for the table. I gotta go to Valley View for elk, but it 3pts or more is a general tag, every year. I never get drawn for the antler less elk there, though.

Buddy told me, Valleyview is the go to place for elk. Apparently, Farmers flag you down on the road and practically beg you to come shoot a couple.:)

Yeah, pretty much. It's more shooting than hunting most years. I have seen herds of 18-20 animals in fields around Sunset House, but they were all cows. This year, I am going on predation tags. One of the landowners has three, and a bunch of mule deer tags. One farmer gave us permission on thousands of acres, but only if we shot two deer for every elk. We had to decline.
Another farmer charges us to live and hunt on his land. The cost? One bear. His wife absolutely LOVES bear meat and that's one less to eat his cows.

Pretty sure antlerless elk tags come awfully easy around Valleyview....as in 0 PP required for the 2nd and 3rd seasons....might take a 1 to be guaranteed for the first season.

Well it looks like a 5 priority will get you an antlered elk in 200. According to the website posted earlier I had about a 70% chance of being drawn an I got it. That looks like my only draw though. I'll find out about antelope in a few weeks, but I'm not holding my breath.

How'd the rest of you guys do?

Glad to hear you got your elk tag! I don't know 200 at all but it looks like pretty country from the road on the western edge. :)

Wife got antlered moose and local doe tags; she missed her antlered mule but she was on the bubble and we knew that one was a roll of the dice.

I only put in for Suffield cow with P0 and turkey with P6; didn't expect either and wasn't surprised. Figured on following the wife around with a packboard but with general tags and undersubscribed we'll see.... lot's of opportunities to choose from yet. ;)
