Finally got my elk down last thursday. It is only a little 4 point but after 5 months it was time to put some meat in the freezer. I shot it at 125 yards and it dropped like a sack of potatoes. I didn't see it drop due to recoil and there was another one standing close by, good thing I didn't think it was mine just standing there wounded or I might have had two on the ground. Mine had dropped in two feet of snow and behind a little berm at the edge of the field, and I couldn't see him until I was only about 40 yards from him. Lots of work at -20C and had to pack him out over two fences. My moose hunting partner came out and helped me pack it out. Great to have good friends that are willing to help when in need. The elk had been feeding on a farmers hay stack and had been feeding really good for awhile.
