Elk hunt with a 270wsm, help me settle on a bullet..edit, working it out

heretic you should not even write down something like that ...lol

the accubond fanboys choir may come after you ...

more seriously i do agree with you.

Yo no way! ABLR maybe.... not true blue AB......... awesome projectile no way a glorofied BT.... poops on a BT :)

Because your hand-loading I would try the 150 Partitions. Also the Swift A-frame bullet is well designed too. Some consider it as a similar design to the Partition but is marginally tougher in the expansion department. However with the 270 WSM your getting some extra velocity over a regular 270 and this brings a 150 grain bullet into a useful round.

Well, had the afternoon to myself today so I test a little testing with the 130 TTSX's on my 50yrd range at home . Started with 62gr of RL22 and worked up by .5 and stopped at 65gr hitting 3334fps. Barnes load data shows up to 67.5gr but I'm pretty sure I'll be way over pressure by then!

Anyways, I think 3300 fps is more than enough for this guy, fastest i have pushed 130's in this rifle. Now I just need to see how they fly at longer ranges.

130 ttsx’s will do fine. For whatever it’s worth, I did see a 130 accubond from a .270 Win. angle through the chest of a large, mature bull moose and exit on a 50ish yard shot. I was a bit surprised to see that. Up close with a couple hundred more fps they may not do that but I have no doubt they would still work great.

The honest answer from having answered scores of these questions in clients’ emails is, whatever you like, that your rifle shoots. I personally would opt for a lead free 130, going fast as it can.

Try the 300 yard sight in. You’ll be point blank to 350 yards with a 130 from the WSM, no holdovers or dialling. It’s how I asked folks to set up for goat hunts. Work that on some unknown range targets and you might get hooked, it helps in the mountains.

Ermagerd...not the dreaded MPBR again!
