Well, got back wednesday night. Me and my dad got skunked but one of our party got a nice little 5x5. It was raining like a mothertrucker for thurs, fri and saturday, but on sunday it cleared up so eveyone went hunting.( i left on friday though, becasue i had to get home and do some homework and whatnot, i also went to the Red hot chili peppers concert, it was awesome) anyway. went out monday morning and didn't see or hear anything except some whitetails. Tuesday was also about the same, but my dads buddy and his son found themselves in the bush a little later in the day, while they were looking at a treestand they foun in the bush they heard a crack and about 25 yards away comes a nice little 5x5 bull. 1 shot and he dropped like well like a dead elk. Wednesday morning me and my dad were in the bush before the sun had come up and as we were walking down a cutline i gave a bugle and roughly 400 yards away came a reply. I gave another bugle and after some crashing in the bush there was another bugle about 100 yards away. After some cow calling i saw an elk come out from behind a spruce about 30 yards away. I was on such an adreneline rush. Well it turned out to only be a spiker and theres a 3 point or better rule up there. so we played with him for about 40 minutes. watching creep out from behind that tree, it seemed like hours though. yes there was quite a bit of shaking due to buck fever this being the first elk i've ever called in. he wouldn' come any closer than 25 yards though and he raked the heck out of a little willow tree. It was the most amazing experience ever. after he buggered offwe huntwed some more then went back to camp. Though i didn't skewer or blast anything it was still great. I'll post some picks in about a week
The only reason we were up at Lodgepole davey was b/c it was our annual hunt. Hopefully i can arrow a nice bull around home
