Elk rut!

I read somewhere that elk are like cattle, and breed year round. Arcticle stated that newborn elk calves were found mid December! Anyone heard of this? I thought they rutted early Sept. (right now)!

Elk breed once a year, like every other cervid. Cattle are ruminants (sp?) and they are a different groups of species. The rut is when the bulls bugle and that is when they fight for dominance over their harems. Just like closing time at the bar on Saturday nights.
