Elk vs 7x57

you might wasnt to also try the barnes triple shock, in my 7-08 they shoot flat and the expansion is near perfect.

My testament to the killing power of the 7 x 57. This one was shot with a 160 grain Speer Mag Tip at about 175 yards.

Well the old girl is at the gunsmith right now to have her barrel lapped and some blueing restored.
So have not been able to shoot her or developed loads for the last month.
Can't wait to get her back!

Nice Bull Azone! I thought it was illegal to use a synthetic stock combined with a cartridge from 1884! J/K....;)

Don't worry Boer, if the rain holds back I will be thinking of you when I go shooting my 7 this weekend.:)

Can you give us some details on your toy and what all your refinshing on it?

I bought it a couple of months ago from a fellow gunnut, i't built on a large ring 98 action, the stock is of a light almost yellow kind of woud but I am not sure what type, with some awsome grain to her.
I am having the barrel lapped and reblued but that's all for now i't an absolutely beauty, have yet to name her.

Sounds like you'll have a dandy for this fall. It is quite satisfying to rebuild a gun yourself and then use it, much like reloading.
Stock sounds like it might be maple or beechwood, does it have alot of fiddleback to the grain?

alot of fiddleback to the grain
Fiddleback??
I don't know what that is.

I don't think it's maple as it is a little yellower and I have no idea what beech woud is :)
Anyway I bought it from a gun nut about 3months ago and she was a real tac-driver.
Went to get a better scope I had lying around mounted and next thing I know it's having the barrel lapped and reblued!

#### thing is I was gonna buy another gunnut's flintlock but since my employment status changed I can't pay the gunsmith and buy the flintlock.
So that sucks big time.

7x57mm, one of the best & one of my favorites. :) I had a Brno & a Winchester model 70 XTR. Got 'rid' of both, now I wonder why. Not the first time. I still have the dies, so it's just a matter of time before I get another.;)

Fiddleback is a type of grain that looks like a series a waves all in a row and are quite similar to eachother, it can be on a small area of the stock, most of the time on the side of the butt to running the full length of the stock. I imagine it would be a bear to inlet an action into such a weavy grain but have nothing ot back this up, only speculation.
There used to be an ad a few years back on Rifle and Reloader magazine with a custom built mauser and a fat Burris scope on it, if you have these magazines from five or so years ago you may have seen the ad.
