Ellwood Epps gunsmithing Issue

I post here because Ellwood Epps close my post on Dealer network .

They not like what i say here services , but all what i say is true and is not a complain is just tell to other guy on what happen with my rifle .

I send rifle in august to be rebarrelled , chambered , tread , and test fire , the box i send have in a Ruger #1 .45-70 stainless steel , a 37" match grade stainless barrel with contour already done . 1 box of the new caliber i wanted the experimental .45-100 . + 1 empty case .

they receive it in august , they told me 4 to 6 week before make the job on ...... Is the 4 mounth begin and nothing , i have difficulty to have answer from Ellwood epps and is what i explain on dealer network , many time they not know what kind of answer they have to give to me ..... i simple is wanted to know what happen with my rifle .

I finaly have answer from them , tell me they allready answer me ... last answer i hear is gunsmith tell me they have only test fire to do on to finish and they will make it friday ( october 18)
I wait for it ..... last friday i demand to my older brother better in English than me to call to know if is finish , the guy answer they not have answer of it , my brother demand do the rifle is complet ... the guy answer they not know have test fire to past ....... He tell to call this monday to talk with manager what i did ....... no manager in ......
i receive answer on dealer network ,, here it is

You have contacted our store both by E-mail and by telephone, as well as posting here on these forums, yet we have provided details for your rifle which you seem to have chosen to overlook for the purpose of condemning our store on a public message board.

The facts are thus:

We do have your rifle in our shop. You have been informed of this.

The barrel has been mounted to the receiver. You have been informed of this.

The barrel has not been test fired, as we do not have appropriate ammunition for this calibre readily available at this time, as .45-100 is not a commercial loading for which we have ammunition selections available from our retail sales shelves. We are having a suitable batch of ammunition hand loaded for this rifle so that the barrel can be test fired as soon as we have that ammunition in-hand. You have also been informed of this situation.

Yes, there has been an unforseen and unfortunate delay in concluding this project, however we are working to correct this issue as swiftly as we can. You have also been informed of this status of this project.

Due to the high demand in our gunsmith shop, and due in no small part to a shortage of parts, accessories and components required to complete many of the projects which are currently underway, we have encountered unforeseen delays which have extended the turn-around times through our shop for many customer guns which are awaiting servicing.

I have asked our manager to contact you with regard to this project as soon as he is able. I did inform your brother, when he called our store on Friday evening, that our manager is out of the shop until Monday, but that I would pass along the notes on this project and ask him to investigate the matter further, and to discuss the details of this matter with you as soon as he is able.

At no time did we ever claim that we did not have your rifle.
At no time did we ever claim that we did not know what had happened to your rifle.
At no time did we ever claim that we had "no work for now", as our shop has been steadily busy for years, and is never short of projects to be completed. At the time you sent your rifle to our store, the turn-around timeframe for most new projects was running 4-6 weeks. Due to the circumstances noted above, however, that timeframe has been increased for not only your project, but for many others. We are working to complete all projects as swiftly as we are able, but with a shortage of staff as well as materials, those completion dates are longer than anticipated.

Again, we will have our manager contact you and discuss this matter further as soon as he is able.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.



i answer it , I have 5 witness can tell to anybody what they hear when we call at they shop and receive in answer they not know what happen with the rifle .....
i still have the mail with the " no work for now" ...

they same to tell they not have ammo for , here i have 5 box of 20 rds and 2 50 rnd box , .45-100 500 grain and 600 grain

they told me is 250$ for the job , is what i will pay for this , My lawyer tell me to demande a money compensator for all this time in plus ,
i had to cancel a hunting trip because of that . yes i add only one rifle . I wait 5 year to find and buy this rifle , I'm a poor man and in my life i dream to have at least this 2 firearms my ruger #1 in .45-100 and my bfr .45-70 revolver ....

I tell ellwood epps only thing i wanted is answer to know what happen , they take many time to give me the answer they give upper .
If something go wrong or go right is in freedom i tell it to other guy wanted to hear .

I not wanted to dirt the name of Ellwood Epps , when i buy h&r Handi rifle .500s&w from Ellwood i post they give me quick and very good services , when i buy Rossi puma 454 casull from Ellwood tell same thing is fast , great and quick ..... i have trouble with this rifle every 454 casull i shot in case split in twice and stoke Inside chamber ...... they not wanted to refund or replace the rifle ..... i tell to everybody what they done .......... i call after that a browning bps 10 ga stalker model from ..... and never see a services like this one fast , quick sending , great replacement ..... all good

this time is bad thing happen , and i not gonna stay quiet because is bad , people have to know . Ellwood Epps don't have to fear the true that not gonna hurt you ... many time is good services more than bad .....

Not sure if this post is for real but I don't see anything out of the norm here in regards to Epps professionalism. They appear to have reasonably explained themselves to me and under the circumstances I would personally understand the delay that is occurring.

Great for reducing wallet recoil!
