emailing BC conservation officer a question ..... how long to wait?

Depends if they are in the office or they are a meeting or they are at a training seminar or any other mulitude of reasons why they didnt back asap.
Call the Office the secretary might be able to answer your questions.

By the way, here in BC the gubberment in their infinite wisdom have decided to add three more digits to our Hunter Number Card and we need to call them ASAP at Service BC to get those three digits.
We will be able to keep out existing numbers, but will need the other digits added to buy a lic. or a tag.
Just a Public Service announcement for us here in BC...you know Bring Cash.
Tight Groups,
Rob

Dont shoot the messenger, I only found out about it the other day myself.
Have yet to call or email and get the low down.

I usually call the 1-800 number and talk to a person. Answers most of my questions. Look for local number in the Bc services blue pages in your phone book under conservation.

I live out in the sticks past canim lake and I've been mentioning the changes to folks up here and nobody knows anything and some think I'm nuts LOL
this new move by the bc government is a direct stab to our hunting culture as it is just going to create a clusterphuck for resident hunters and the THOUSANDS of folks in the interior who choose to not have internet. which is by the way dozens and dozens of my friends and aquaintances up in these parts.

I'm guessing there's gonna be a whole lotta unlicensed deer "poachin" going on this season I'm thinkin as lots of folks are basically developing that "phuck the guvment" attitude as we get further along with these scamming crusty clark liberals.

they have the mailing addresses of every resident hunter and could easily taken their time with this and mailed out everyone a new card . 1st step, mail out a "confirm your address" letter, once received, they send out your new card. Simple, painless and with a nice little brochure explaining all the changes to us backwards out in the country folk who like things a little simpler, and easier to understand hahaha

Why would they be poaching?
They would get the new lic. and tag and when they shot first animal the lic/tag gets lost.
New one gets ordered and then they can go and shoot another.
Yup, fraudulent as all get go, but look at the leadership of the Province and one only has to see that whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
The system is flawed for sure and it is only going to get worse.

I'm only speculating when I say folks will be poaching.
and by poaching I simply mean , going hunting without bothering with license and tags.
There is a general perception in the dozen or so folks I've talked to about this that if they can't take the time to properly inform all hunters by regular mail, those folks without internet (by choice) are simply gonna keep on getting their deer regardless.
now, we are talking about otherwise ethical, only shoot what we need , we don't buy our meat at the store if we can help it, off the beaten path, interior bc residents.
heck, we don't even know what 'optic" TV or internet is out here..... most of the folks I know that did have internet gave it up because all you could get here was "high speed" dial up LOL
I pay 3 times what most folks pay to have the satellite internet system I have, but most folks out this way can't be bothered and don't want the internet intrusion on their lives.

My original understanding was that it would be mailed out.
This post prompted me to call a Service Counter.
Sometime in April you can go to your local licence distributor and it will be done from that location.
What if I want to go hunting? Apparently the local distributor would issue you a licence using the current number and at a later date you could get your number.
One will need the new 9-digit number to open an account and do your business on line.

SNAFU rules will apply.

Just got the new license. It's called a fish and wildlife number now. There's 3 new numbers added to the front of your hunter number. They just left them blank on mine.

Back when I lived in Onterrible, I phoned (not emailed) the Ministry on a couple of occasions with questions. I spoke to helpful office staff who promised a quick return call from the CO when he was available.

Been waiting just over 5 years for the one response, and almost 18 for the other...

I too was only speculating , but sounded like it was going to be rampant...as mentioned the SNAFU rules may come into play till it is all figured out and then they decide to change the game or the rules.

Intereting new name, does that mean buying a fishing lic. I will now use the same number as the one I buy a hunting lic. with?
Just asking out loud, no answer needed as I will be calling Tuesday morning.
Thanks Guys,
Rob

Last summer a pair of cougars whaled all the lambs 1.6k from my place. Called the CFO and CFO suggests I watch my flock. Well no chit eh.
