Embracing my Fudd Heritage

OK, I'm trying to *build* a Fudd heritage in my family (my hippy parents met at a water ski commune in Quebec city).

Do I need to buy a semi-auto or a pump rifle? You guys are confusing!

Awwh heck, it don't matter, just make sure the bigg'un suitcase handle is awn it.
With oar widdowt sights.

Aren't you guys worried the sill of the car door will scratch up a wood stock when you shoot from the highway?

You just gotta plop your hat down to rest your rifle on!

Dang it. All my nascent Fudd 'cred, right out the window. The *car* window!!!

Damn you, all, you wily, wascally wodents!

Our family will never be fudds, with our crossover SUVs, our magazine fed synthetic stocked stainless rifles, and our space age warm when wet technical fabrics!

If anyone needs me I'll be eating my dehydrated nutritionally balanced Mountain House meal while drinking espresso made on a Primus titanium isobutane stove and pooping in a portable chemical toilet!

Whats this thread about anyways?
FLHTCUI

It seems like its gone a wee bit off kilter.
I found a rifle today that belonged to a 90 yr. old Fudd.
His family advised him that he should consider cleaning it up and sell it so he did just that.
Its a well used Winchester Cooey Mod. 710 in 270 Winchester, a push feed style Mod. 70 type action with a Rem. 700 style safety and a blind magazine, actually resembles a Winchester attempt at making a 700 ADL.
It has been carried more than shot.... much more, the bore is absolutely mint but the wood not so.
The old timer decided to hide the stock wear and tear by applying about 4 coats of dark paint to the wood, but first he was concerned about painting over the existing checkering so he took some reflective tape like that which would be put on a bicycle fender 20 years ago and carefully put it exactly over the checkering.
So what do I have.... probably a nice shooting 270 that can be seen on a dark night.

My plan is to take it apart, remove the paint and tape and spend a few months making it look better because my current health issues prevent shooting and hunting for a few months.
It will keep me occupied while I recuperate and I plan on taking some before and after pictures.
Then who knows ?.... maybe it will become yet another several thousand dollar item on the EE..... LOL !
