Hi fellow gun nutz
I popped out today with a couple of bang sticks to Emils Range in Red Deer , and There is a sign on the gate thay says , "Military semi automatics and military ammo is now banned. Hunting and sporting arms only" .
Which was a bummer because thats what i took , I ended up going to the Blindman valley gun club range of which i am pleased to be a member and would recomend the place to anyone in this area .
Emils was convenient for a quick trip because its so close .
Anyway i believe there are a few gun nutz that shoot there occasionally so thought you should know .
I wonder what/who F#cked it up ?

I was there on thursday and didn't see this sign. I must admit that while I was there some jerk offs were banging away with a 858 and your standard czech surplus at the 25 yard line. They had all their stuff set up right next to the sign stating that surplus was to be used only on the 100 yard targets so I'm sure they saw it.

I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

That's a shame. I liked how close it was for taking out the m305 for a little practice. I'm going to have to leave her at home from now on.

I thought you guy's lived in the land of the free.....

Again another club going the political correct route..........

If there was a problem why not deal with the problem, that is what we preach to the government....

You must have got there just after i left then . it was new outa the box . But there was a named person on the gate also banned , I guess Emil figured it wernt worth the grief any more .
However i could thorougly recomend the Blindman Valley gun range , for anyone in the Red Deer Lacombe area, its a nice quiet spot between Bently and Rimbey and about 35 mins drive .coverd shooting area . 25-50 -100meters., Pistols also allowed , no shotties at the mo though. Membership from D Henry gunsmith in Bently $50 .

You guy's don't understand this range.

First of all it's open to the public. Donations are welcomed but you do not have to pay to get in.

Second of all it's in Emiles back yard.

Third of all it shares some land with Emiles antique cars. There have been issues with ricochets off the 25 and 50 yarders toward them before. Mainly FMJ rounds found where they shouldn't be. The new rule was FMJ at the 100 yard only as it has the best backstop.

Fourth there are a ton of asshats out there who tend to ruin it for the rest of us. I don't know how many people I've seen blasting away without watching where they are shooting.

Did they say the reason for the banning of Military semi automatics and military ammo???????:puke:
Emil is a retired gunsmith , and when he worked on peoples guns or they wanted to try em out , there is a range literally in his back yard . He retired in 77 ish but people kept comming to the range , he continues to maintain it and if you wanted to use it then leave a donation . So it is not a club at all , just a casual shooting area .Emil is very pro gun.
Anyone who has been there will know (and it is posted) no milsurp ammo to be used except on the 100yd point . Because there had been issues with ricochets . And there are other properties nearby .He has to cover his own a......bottom .
Abuse it and loose it i guess .It is sad though .

i guess me and wobbles were writing at the same time . sorry

Well Seeing as it is a private range this whole thread is a mute point. Emil is fully within his right to make any range rule he wants. No thanks to some stupid individuals.

I have seen more nolsler HUNTING bullets way away from the berms at various ranges then FMJ if bukllets are leaveing the range then the range is UNSAFE and should be shut down to protect ALL of us

Sign of the times in Wild Rose Country. Booming population, often with more money than brains. Puts a lots of pressure on all services, including the volunteer ones.

Pick up your steel cases from the range.

Ain't that the truth. At the rate casings are piling up, i'll hazard a guess there's going to be a shortage in ammo coming. It's ankle deep on some firing points here some days.

Rarely do you find any SKS, etc owners that shoot steel cases pick up their firedcartridge cases. There are exceptions, but looking on the ground of firing points now, it doesn't seem like many, and yes I do own an SKS.
