Employment Opportunities at Wolverine Supplies!

Its funny I see people working all the time to buy material things that they end up having no time to use because they are working all the time to afford them! When I interview people and money is the number 1 question they ask I know they are not the type of employee I'm Looking for. Getting paid to do something your passionate about and work with/for great people sounds good to me.

People who are passionate about their work ar etypically very good at it and can demand more money..... I see nothing wrong with asking pay rate in advance.... Why waste everyone's time when, in the end, you can't afford to work for or deserve more than the salary being offered....

True, but when I took my current position there was a difference in what I was asking and what the company was paying for the position.I said give me three months to prove my worth and guess what I'm makeing more than I had originally asked for.Thats part of the problem today people think they are entitled or deserve, all take no give.

Your story reminds me of mine... I took my current job as it was closer to home and it would allow me more time with my kids and more time to hunt and enjoy my property. I took a small pay cut to come here and busted my butt and now, a year later I received a 13% pay raise and a 12% bonus as well as a promotion... But that being said, not all workplaces offer advancement opportunity like mine, and the pay cut I took was because I could afford it, but not everyone is in the position to be able to do that...

Sorry for the derail Wolverine.... You seem like a great bunch of guys and likely have a great work environment.... but I don;t think it is unreasonable for folks to ask for a pay rate up front... Think of it this way, do you want to waste a bunch of time interviewing candidates that can't afford to work for you?... Kind of goes both ways...

Exactly.

Saskatchewan is cheaper around the Manitoba border. I bought a house about 40 minutes from Virden a couple years ago and paid 19 000. But prices are all rising due to oil.

I,m with grump on this one mostly.
I left a very high paying job in the Uk, to come to northen Ontario to make min wage.
I left a high paying sales job, where I was 60% of the companys sales, 8 staff to work in a gun shop, left because they would not pay what was promised.
money is not everything, bad jobs and stress has made my major health issue so bad at times i,ve ended up in hospital for a week or longer.
Now I run my company full time, with a few partners " the right people" and even thou 80hrs a week is normal, and I make a lot less "money"
It is a great place to work.
I would say working at a place like wolverine, making a good wage and doing what you love is more important then making big $$$$ in the patch.
No ones going to remember the 120hr weeks you did in the patch.
Life is too short.

In all fairness, the cost of housing in rural MB is very low. An old friend of mine from Highschool works for CBSA in Sprague and bought a house for $50k ish.

My point had nothing to do with the cost of housing in rural MB. If the cost of your current mortgage and bills is more than the job pays it makes it hard to buy food. Not to mention its wastes everyone's time to go through the process and then at the end find out you can not make it work. In either case it is irrelevant as they do not want the wage posted if any one is interested they can contact pat.

As a business owner, I love spreading this philosophy around. The money isn't important! As long as you love your job and love working for me! (PS it's a bull#### idea)

"Outside" ? ... You guys need to get "outside" of that 3rd world country you're in now. (Does Manitobia even rank on Human Development Index?) Having a shop in the GTA only makes good business sense (Since Toronto is the center on the universe and all...)

:nest:

Why do you call Manitoba a third world?

Allot of Torontonians say that but they turn out to be stuffy old librarians, that give themselves cool wolf names in hopes to try and seem to be internet cool.

you guys have a hospital or care homes in the vicinity? my wife would need a job too LOL
I'd move just about anywhere in the country to work in a successful firearms business environment.
7 years retail in sporting goods fishing and hunting product exclusively.... no firearms but we sold ammunition
2 years retail manager for high volume marine/outdoors/fishing, no firearms/ammo
dealt personally with distributors like bell, worldwide, redl, inland just to name a few......
got a very good base knowledge of firearms and hunting......

hmmmmm but yer all the way out in Manitoba .... dammit!

some people get this and others don't. I used to be a college professor for many years and was also a DD in the oil patch after I got tired of the college, now I'm here and happy.

There's a metric **** ton of old folks homes around Virden, a long with the old people to fill em'. The west is an aging population.
