EMT ONLY?? Doesn't anyone take an alternative method around here??

EMT is king, (FRAUD ALERT) is not even an option for me, but I will do what ever works for a buyer/seller, M/O, cheque, cash, bank deposit. Although EMT is the best, there are a lot of us that also use the credit unions and most Credit Unions do not use EMT, so other methods of payment are required, it is good to be a little open if required with a buy/seller.

I accept EMT, and good old fasion postal money orders. They both work just fine.

Another :agree: for anti (FRAUD ALERT) and EBAY dont forget they are one in the same company both are very anti gun, they banned me for accepting a payment for some cast lead bullets they thought where ammo after fighting with them for over two months I got tired of explaining what the item was... all because a person felt it nessary to put in the subject "bullets" of the (FRAUD ALERT) they have software that flags things against there user agreement.

No where in there agreement does it say anything about projectiles but they still broke my balls over it.

Thanks for all the comments fella's!

I know all the reasons PP sucks, just wanted to get some alternate ideas from sellers here....definitely NOT going to join up with one of the big banks just to do EMT...
So in advance, I'll warn you that if we do business here, it will be with a Postal MO, or ca$h...

One thing that may help is for Credit Union (and other small-bank) customers to pressure those institutions to start doing EMT. If they realise they're losing business over it, they may try to catch up to the rest of the country.

Well then, you'll probably miss out on a lot of deals because of it. 'EMT Only' is becoming quite common on the EE and I can see why.

What is a 'Big Bank'? What's wrong, is the MAN getting you down?

Not sure if it has been mentioned. (FRAUD ALERT) only allowing the money to be spent online in most situations is useless.

EMT is through major banks within Canada, so it is indeed secure.
Nothing wrong with a Money Order pending tracking is included !

They are not loosing business, over it, I personally still prefer to bank with the Credit Union over the bank, you are treated like a person not a number, but I have mentioned it to the manager at the branch were I bank and he said the cost for the Credit Unions would be so high as the system must take each Credit Union Separately, so unlike the big banks, there is no cost reduction incentive. They are working on a system and do have one in place, but it is terrible to work with and they even recommend against it. it is a matter of time, but personally I think here on CGn we should be more open to other methods of payment. It is good to see that dealers will accept EMT and M/O as opposed to only Credit Cards, but for personal deals, no reason not to take a M/O or if the buyer is willing, a direct bank deposit.

It's not just that (FRAUD ALERT) is known for being anti-gun. It's also a huge fraud risk for private sellers who do not have the time or money to pursue their insane seller "protection" policies. There are endless stories of scammers using stolen credit cards to make (FRAUD ALERT) payments, which of course go through initially but then later get reversed, after the seller has shipped. This type of fraud is rampant and (FRAUD ALERT) is notoriously lackadaisical when it comes to protecting private sellers.

This is why people don't take (FRAUD ALERT) payments. I will happily use (FRAUD ALERT) to send payments (usually to actual businesses) because it's convenient, but I will never accept any sort of (FRAUD ALERT) payment.

Another good point.

(FRAUD ALERT) customer service is quite awful.

EMT IS king,
but most folks are pretty reasonable on payment methods.
had a member take a personal cheque after explaining how far I am from town to get a $6.50 money order or cert cheque.(add $25 to a $20 item)
and
had folks ship before payment arrived.
a good trader rating and being honorable goes a long way! ;)

I love EMT. guys, we live in the 21st century here, everyone has access to the internet (obviously we all do), everyone has a bank account, and most people have EMT capable banks. If you don't, you should either switch banks, or , just do what the other CGNer did and open up an account at a TD, Royal, just for online payment use.

I think (FRAUD ALERT) charges the person receiving money like 3% ? correct me if i'm wrong.

waiting for money orders is just painful, and then it never shows up :(

GO EMT! it's the fastest way to get your firearms! who can wait that extra day to touch their new friend?? not I !

Unfortunately the Credit Union I deal with does not have EMT....yet. I find a good alternative for EMT is direct deposit to the sellers account. Works almost as fast as EMT and is no hassle for the seller as the money suddenly appears in their account.

I take money orders, but prefer EMT. If sending a money order, then send it quickly, not 4-5 days from now. I like my deals done ASAP, easier to keep track of everything...

My money orders are free at RBC.

EMT is the best thing Canadian banks have ever done...........to beat (FRAUD ALERT) to the ground.

Yeah... what he said^^

I used Ebay and (FRAUD ALERT) until something BETTER came along.
Deal with (FRAUD ALERT) and you will get burned - you sign an agreement that allows them to remove money from your account, pretty much at the buyers say so. (FRAUD ALERT) fees for Canadian users are high and always going up. (FRAUD ALERT) and Ebay will be one of the richest companies in the world - and they want your guns 'off the street'.
