Enfiel SMLE Markings Need help!!!

I have this old Enfield and his history is mysterious for me.
Its appear to be a new Zealand carbine!?

Barrel appear to been cuted in the past. No4 front sight base has been fitted.
Have a new Zealand marking (N^Z)
Have a (.22 pattern '14 No2) Marking, Converted to .22 caliber... the .22 insert is missing, the bolt is for .303 caliber.
have a (III) for Mk3 pattern
Have a (ER) marking for king Edward
Some trace of a sliding dust cover seem remaining on the receiver.
Some b.s.a acceptance stamp on the barrel remain.
Some EFD stamp on the receiver remain.
I put a full length Mk3 to compare.

No, not a New Zealand carbine. It looks to be a bitza assembled from rifle parts out of the spares bin. I don't see any carbine parts on the gun.

Receiver is post 1907 Sht,LE Mk,III with charger bridge removed. NewZealand markings were applied in same way on carbines and some (not all) rifles. So remnants of NZ on butt socket is also correct for rifle.

Receiver is a take off from a .22 conversion. This one was never fitted for the bolt dust cover due to charger bridge in the way.

Woodwork is sportered Sht.LE. rear sight is aftermarket???

Lotsa parts there for other projects.

If the bore is decent, it might make a good little deer gun.

As above, an early NZ MkIII later converted to a .22 Pattern'14 No2 (shame, only about 1400 ever converted) then chopped up.
FWIW your leather sling is on backwards.
