Enfield 22 trainer and a 303

Well I thought I had a surprise when I cracked the bolt on the 22 conversion.....I had another today when I was cleaning the "303" and found a 7.62 stamped near the end of the barrel as well as a small "a" inside a "C". I don't think it is a DCRA conversion as it doesn"t have the other identifying marks. This rifle has the AJP peep sight on it. I am going to start a separate thread on it complete with pics so as not to confuse this one.

The rifle and bore cleaned up well. It has a great bore. This rifle just needs the wood put back to linseed oil and it's all good. This one and it's partner 7.62 conversion make a great pair. It would be interesting to know how long they were in storage without being used. Some history there for sure.

just to complete this little circle of life, I was the lucky guy who ended up with both of them. they are both very accurate and a lovely pair to own.

So my question is who converted it to 22? It’s not a no7 or a Belgian conversion. Would it be a comercial conversion for a school or something? Most militarys used smle .22s, no7, cno7, no8 & 9 and a few others I suppose. But I don’t know a lot about no4 .22s conversions and who used them
