how common are these? is it a one of custom? where can I get one !
------ There was a Shop/Gunsmith in Northern B.C. that was doing that conversion, I remember seeing their ad in Canada Eccess to Firearms, several years ago, can,t find the old ad or remember who it was, I think it was in Fort St. John, Dawson Ck; or somewhere around there, anyone here know, or have any info ??There was a company in the US called Gibbs that produced some of them. There are some good gunsmiths on this site that can put one together for you though and can be pretty much guaranteed to be better than any of the Gibbs offerings. You may want to look into a Pattern 17 conversion as well, or a Siamese Mauser, there are also a few of those around. The Siamese Mausers were popular conversions to 45/70 about 30 years ago.
I know that Special Interest Arms in the US can do .45-70 conversions, in addition to their other conversions (.45 ACP, 7.62x39, 7.62x54). Unfortunately, getting one of their conversion kits up here could be a problem....
