Enfield Cavalry Carbine with scabbard

I bought this rifle recently and then picked up this scabbard a week later at an antique show. Just wondering if anyone knows what's missing from the scabbard and if the web strap that's on there now could have been added by the military. I've added a picture of the stamping on the scabbard ( Nobes and Hunt 1900 ) and i believe the rifle's brass disk says the 14th hussers who were at the relief of Ladysmith. The cutoff is missing as you can see by the damage it's sustained. The damage appears to be old. Not sure how it came to be but it wasn't from a ruptured cartridge as the metal is bent in, not out. The gun is solid and shoots just fine. The last pic shows a piece of paper with matches that was found in the butt trap. The only written word i can make out is "Dauphin" and the stamped part has "Winnipeg"
Any ideas, questions or comments would be appreciated. Oh! and yes, this rifle will be left as she is :)








 
I suspect the web strap was added after it left military ownership. For one thing none of the trades, saddler, armourer or anyone else who might have added the strap in service would have put split rivets with the flared end on the outside. Also to the best of my knowledge there were never any authorized mods like that on the rifle buckets.
 
The " No. 5 Neepawa to Dauphin " on the old letterhead / envelope wrapped around the matches is PROBABLY a reference to Manitoba Provincial Trunk Highway No. 5 which runs from Neepawa to Dauphin. Reason for it being on there - ?????
