Hi Guys

Picked this baby up for $20 from a guy said he didnt want it. I would like to know what i would need to restore it none of the metal seems to be cut what do i need its a two groove barrel any idea of worth also would be appreciated.

Get a new stock and you have a really nice and desired rifle. Nice find, too bad its been butchered.


Value? maybe between 100-150 bucks for a babba'd Enfield, some places as low as 89 bucks. Restored value with full stock, 300 -500 bucks.
 
Well all you would need is a for-stock, front and rear band and screws. Is the bolt, receiver and barrel matching? From the pictures the bluing looks to be in really good shape. That's a easy restoration. Congrats on the great score.
 
Numbers all seem to match even the mag but mag also has forced numbers on it. the stock has been cut hard to see but its on a 45 deg angle at the front coming back towards reciever.
 
If you go to the Marstar web site (they are a site sponsor, link at top of the page) you can find this schematic which will show you what yours is missing. Besides a new forestock and all the fittings forward of the chamber, you seem to need a rear sight.

As to what it's worth, a lot more than the $20 you gave for it. You are off to a great start.

Restored BSA sporter would fetch $350. Bubba'd sporter as is $150. Remember, a restored sporter is NOT the same as an original Enfield so please do not sell it as an all original. Selling a restored sporter as an original is lying. $500 is what original Long Branch Enfield's go for in very good condition.
 
Dont plan on selling it upon closer inspection the left ear on the front sight looks to be bent inward are they replaceble?

yes replaceable, if its not bent bad you can try to unbend it. Take it off the rifle and be gentle. I broke one not to long ago, and if you do they are really hard to fix. :redface:

So parts you need now to fix that rifle up are the 3 barrel bands (all different) a sling swivel for the mid band, screws for the mid and fore bands, and wood - fore stock and the 2 uppers

Cool so now im gonna spend more on the parts then i did for the rifle lol. Anyone have any wood and parts i will need i want to restore this thind and put it on my wall i have a decent 12 gauge pump i would trade
 
You paid so little for that rifle it should be easy to get the needed parts for less than what it will be worth when restored. If you were to sell it restored, it ought to be possible to take a bit of profit without misrepresenting it as an original for a collector's price.
 
In addition to the handguards, and mid barrel band, you also need the ring that keeps the rear handguard from falling off.
Thats assuming a replacement forend will come with the nosecap.
From looking at the condition of what you already have, this is well worth restoring. AND Parts is parts. It WILL be "original".
As for the magazine being force matched (I really hate that term) keep in mind magazines were numbered at the unit level. If the original one it came with was damaged or lost, a replacememt would be pulled out of the armourers spares box and renumbered.
