Hey guys/girls.

As some of you may know, I've been building myself a clone of a 4T Enfield sniper. Since I don't have the luxury of upwards of $10k to source out and buy myself one, I decided to try my hand at making one, and do it as historically accurate as possible. Give or take. After doing as much research as I felt neccessary, and talking with a good deal of people here on the forums* and elsewhere, I felt I was ready to give it a try.

I started out with a No 4 mk 1.5 sporter that I got from the EE. Took the barrel off and rebarreled with a 5 groove that was in as-new condition.

Sourced myself a stock set, consisting of a post-war savage lower, and a varied assortment of other parts, that I test-fit and had bedded by a gunsmith.

Doesn't look super-great in the picture and I assure you it looked worse in person. So after doing some research (I.E. fishing the forums for info), I got myself some wood-stain to try and make a uniform looking stock set.

Stock set seen here, prepped and ready to stain. Allready started on the buttstock.

Okay that's it for now. Will try to finish it up tomorrow.

*I'll save thank you's for the completed rifle post

I still need a few things though. That's a weaver k series sight on it. I'd love to get ahold of a real Enfield scope, or failing that, a Lyman Alaskan. I've tried to make this as authentic as I possibly could, including the methods for mounting and zeroing the scope mount itself.

I want to thank everyone who was a source of help, parts, resources or just general advice. I couldn't have managed to do this without you.

Let us know how it shoots when you get that far!!!

Have been testing it out today. Shoots well. Good trigger pull.

Put a group of 3 shots within an inch at 50. My range has a gong at 200, and I hit that all shots. Then again I can hit it with irons so, that's not really saying anything.

Will need to try it out at longer ranges over the next couple of weeks on paper.

An old steel tube made in the U.S.A. Weaver K3 or K2.5, especially if you can find one with a post and cross-hair reticle, will look more like the real thing, and the sight picture will be more alike, too. There are also replicas of the No.32 scope around. I think Brownells or Numrich listed them at one point and I am sure if you look up one of our members, Wheaty, he will be able to tell you something useful about them.

I usually grumble obscenities at folks who mess around with Lee-Enfields, but my gawd! You did that rifle justice my friend! It looks fantastic....

may i recommend you put the sling on the right way round. The brass parts of the tabs need to be on the inside and the little hooks on the outside
