I'm thinking about buying one of those no-gunsmithing scope mounts for my lee enfield no.4 mk1* from frontier firearms, is this a good idea, or should I just pass?
IIRC you need to remove it. It's not too complicated. There's a tiny reatining pin on the left side. Punch it out upwards. Then, the rear sight "pivot" can be punched out from the left side to the right. Ideally you want to push down on the rear sight while doing this to prevent the plunger and its spring from exerting too much upwards pressure.
Once the pivot is out, the rear sight comes off, and you pull out of their hole the plunger and plunger spring.
Keep these parts together... in a place you won't forget
Most of the no-gunsmithing mounts displace the rear sight - ATI, S&K, Armalon. The Cad-Technik doesn't, but it mounts the scope higher, and is a bit more expensive, and I don't think anyone in Canada retails it.
