Enfield number 5 butt pad

Easy to make one. The Numrich are repose and with shipping are pricey. A decent product but I would make if you can.

They can be made from Buna N, which is a durable poymer type black rubber used for making belt scrapers and bottle stoppers.

It won't cause rusting either and it's just soft enough to actually work, but hard enough to machine.

Good day Snider Shooter,

Marstar currently has them for $50. Saw it this morning under the 'clearance' section.

Cheers,
Rob

I think I am going to try making one. I know I bought similar stuff through work but I can’t remember what company. I just have to make a few phone calls through Burnside industrial park to find which company sells the material.
This is a second Jungle Carbine I plan to rebuild. A on going project which doesn’t really matter how long it takes to finish. I have the barrel and action, complete. Has a #4 bolt , I have a #5 bolt that I already swapped out. Came with a #4 butt. Forearm is a #4. So parts left are all wood , swivels and band. Magazine I believe is original.
Basically the barrel action and site is original. Flash hider is present.
I was never really interested in the Jungle Carbine until I started rebuilding my first #5 , now I really enjoy using it. I’ll see about some pictures.

First Jungle Carbine that I rebuilt.
Wasn’t in the best of shape when I bought it. Upper hand guard was in two pieces. Butt stock was in two pieces. Butt pad was flat at the heal and deteriorated. Finish on the barrel was blotchy over 3/4 of the barrel. The stock wood under the action was compressed. Spacer under the front action screw was missing. The wood had previously been sanded with a coat of varnish put on.
I didn’t think of taking pictures of before and during refinish. Butt I figured was the biggest problem so decided to glue it together. I had already stripped the varnish of with stripper. Cracked from wrist to butt. West System epoxy was used. The two pieces went together almost perfect. With some minor sanding to make the crack disappear. The hand guard needed a decision, make or fix it. I could see some wood was missing. I knew I would be extremely hard to color match a new piece of to the stock color. Well I decided to try and fix the old one. WS epoxy again. I had some walnut dust that I mixed in with the epoxy to help with a color match. The crack can be seen but I think it looks better to have original wood matching.
Compressed draws.
The easiest way to repair them was with JB weld. The missing spacer I grabbed from my parts. I needed to remove some wood from the bedding area so the epoxy could properly bond to the wood. Clear packing tape was applied to the action so it wouldn’t be glued into the stock permanently. JB went in and rifle was put together. The front action screw was not completely tightened as I wanted the action to sit on top of the JB weld after it hardened which should free float the barrel.
Stock refinish
The stock wasn’t scared or dented so really didn’t require to much work besides for minor sanding and a few coats on linseed oil.
Barrel refinish.
I wasn’t sure how using cold blue would work as far as trying to match the original color. I cleaned it up with steel wool and started blueing. 26 six coats. I kept trying for darker but somewhere it just stopped.
All the work was done in the evenings after work so about two weeks of a couple hour’s each evening.
I think it turned out well. I plan to keep it as a shooter. Shoots awesome.
Almost forgot Fazakerly 45 , fifth month. No FTR date. Bolt is from another #5 with 0 bolt head.

there is hard rubber matting that they use at the arenas. to protect the skate blades. A small piece of this might work for you.
