It does look good in the white but I would worry about rust. I would personally want to dio a really nice rich gunblue. Blueing is always better than parkerizing which was only done because you could do big batches cheaper.
Or I might also be tempted to have a really nice modern guncoat put on.

Rebluing doesn't look that good in my opinion. You lose the marking's sharpness. I saw a reblued Ross at a gunshow recently... that was the only thing not right looking about it - that and the mixmatched grain on the forend splice!
I wouldn't worry too much about rust. If you're not in the trenches and you keep her clean and oiled, there's not much to worry about.
I have a 1915 nagant with very little finish on it. I think it shows its age well. It reminds me of the old muskets they used to leave in the white.
If someone has purposely removed the finish on the metal that's a different story.. it's not authentic!

I have had some really mixed results with bluing. Some has turned out beautifully and others horribly. I did 2 Enfield mags in one sitting and one came out perfect and the other was so bad I had to strip it again. I think it has to do with how much chromium is in the steel.
I like how a milsurp looks with most of the bluing worn off as well.

How can one tell/identify that this magazine is a No.1 magazine and not the No.4 magazine ?

The extra notch on the bottom of the mag. The No4 mag has only one notch.

Oh, and Big Guy. I hope you are applying plenty of coats of BLO or RLO to your stock while it's off the rifle. Don't forget to check the forestock for proper fit before re-installing and shooting, IE: barrel centred, king screw bushing not too long or short, proper bedding, proper upward force at the end of the forestock, and no gap between the forestock and the forward edge of the receiver wrist. That baby should be nice and tight.

Wow thanks for the help already. I had said the gun was a mixmaster,but its nice to know what is correct , it shoots good, but the finish is worn in spots and rusted in others. My next step is to remove the present blueing in prep to re-blue with "Blue Wonder" I'll keep you posted, Its on hold for a few days as I have a little weekend trip planned.
