Well Im probly going to the Duncan gun show tomorrow and if I see and ok condition (or beter) enfield for under $150 Ill buy it.

My question is: can you get buy a aftermarket synthetic stock for a enfield?

Why not just pick up a sporterized one and be done with it? All kinds of them on the EE.

Little over my budget.

Ive seen tons of them at the gun show, and i think one guys was selling one for like $50:confused:

And there was a guy on here that offered my one of his enfields, but i fogot his username on here:mad:

Cheap Enfield

Well given that a decent mag alone is worth $35, dont think youre going to get much for $50 at a show. Check the Buy&Sell paper.

I'm with Longbranch. The days of $50 bubba'd Enfields are gone. Doesn't hurt to look though. Get proof of good headspace before you hand over any money.
You'll find a synthetic stock will significantly increase the felt recoil.

READ.

FYI - for .303 British, SAAMI specs are GO .064", NOGO .070", and FIELD .074". I own a NOGO gauge in .303 British and use some tape to bump it up 4 thousandths when a rifle closes on it.

Enfields have notoriously sloppy headspace dimensions. Always check them or have them checked by a qualified gunsmith before firing. If they are out of spec, you can have a case burst in the chamber. I'm checking out two for a buddy tomorrow. Not difficult - remove the extractor (simple) and don't force the bolt handle closed (finger pressure only!).

AFAIK, SAAMI Field is .070", Military Field is .074". I have both gauges and they are definitely different.
I believe the No 1 Mk III SMLE's are much more likely to have a headspace problem than most No 4's I've had my paws on.
