is there a way to mount a scope on a No4Mk1 without removing the rear sight? that thing is bang on at 100yards and the tangent is good too. my eyes are, like all of us getting older so a scope might be in the future, how can i have this while keeping the peep sight.

thanks
dean

You can make your own (like I did) and design it to meet your needs. For instance, do you want a see-through mount or just a mount that you can remove when you wish to go to open sights? If I can help, PM me.

you made your own? did you have to drill and tap the steel of the action to mount it? see-through would be preferable, i even kicked around the idea of a scout mount to leave the top of the action open so i could use charger clips.

thanks

Hey Dean. I made my own and I had to drill and tap the receiver to mount it. Let me make haste to add that this was a "Sussex" sporter so i didn't do any butcher work to a nice military rifle.

Let me know what you think. For your purposes, this design could be altered to keep your iron sights intact, but you would need a cheek rest of some sort to give you the eye relief for a scope. If you wish to pursue this, I could help with the design. The metal work is actually pretty basic.
