hi all,

i did a search and came up with nothing so heres my question. will enfield mk 1 mags fit in an mk2 rifle?? its my understanding that the mk2 was the "refurb" of the mk1.
i admit that im not an expert on this topic and find myself getting confused trying to figure this out. Any help would be great, thanks in advance:)

Yes.
And they do not fit a No. I Mk. III properly, nor do these SMLE magazines fit No. 4 rifles.

In the No.4 rifle the Mk.2 is not refurbishment of the Mk.1, it is a new Mark. The difference is in how the trigger is attached.

The No.4 Mk1 and No.4Mk1* differ from each other in how the bolt is released to be removed from the rifle. Some of these No.4s went through factory refurbishment. If that happened after the Mk.2 variant of the No.4 was introduced, the refurbishment included modifying the attachment of the trigger to the Mk.2 design and restamping to indicate this had been done. Thus, No.4 Mk1 was restamped No.4 Mk1/2 and No.4 Mk1* was restamped No.4 Mk1/3 so that the new stampings still reflected the different variations of bolt release. (The No.4 Mk2 has the same bolt release as the No.4 Mk1 and the No.5.)

Magazines of all Marks of No. 4 and magazines of the No. 5 should be interchangeable.
