I posted this in another thread but I haven't got any response. I am itching to clean it and I don't want to harm it.

Is it okay to wash it with warm soapy water?

After it dries should I use anything to preserve and protect it or leave it alone?

Can someone show/tell me how to put it on properly? I saw one thread showing hooks out...anything else to putting it on?

.. Warm soapy water is fine. In Service, they were "Blancoed" in either white or Khaki. Later period, in Green. Some Units used Black, with the die being applied by the troops. ..... Mfg. markings go inside, the metal Tabs/Slides also go to the inside. Thus only the two small pieces of round brass (hooks ) are visible. An equal amount of sling adjusted and snug on both the fore-end and the butt sling swivel. ...... Hope this helps, it's really not complicated at all. .... David K
