I purchased an E.A.L. Enfield rifle a while ago and was wondering what it's value was. Here are some pics of the rifle:

AUGH the second picture just makes me want to slap someone.

Other then the pins and holes in the side of the reciever for some sort of scope mount it is a nice example of a military EAL. I think the serial numbers started at 1000 so yours would be a later production 62XX I may be wrong here and its actually an early production. Looks well taken care of.

Price is hard to put on these as they don't seem to have much of collector appeal. Mostly because a lot of people think that all they have is a Bubba No4 and great deals can be found on EAL's this way. Even with the damage to the reciever I would imagine you should not have a problem getting $200 or perhaps more because its the military pattern EAL.

I have included a link to my EAL page

I like the flip up rear sights. :)

Those screw holes scare me.
Will they still take a scope mount to hide them?

I say she will prob' make a nice deer, and swamp donkey rifle. :)

Eal

Have seen military EAL's claim to fetch up to $450(more than I'd pay), would have to be "as-new". I just sold a buddy a bubb'd civi EAL yesterday for $150.
Like someone said, can be had cheap when seller thinks its just another cutdown No.4, but when a collector has it you'd think it was the last one on the planet. Yours looks nice despite the holes. I'd remount a scope and call it "good".

From what I've read on a few of the other posts on this board, some of the Ranger EALs were drilled and tapped for scope bases. This may have been one of those. There has to be some way to find out if it was done at the armorers bench. As far as price goes, EALs are in demand amongst collectors and shooters, One in VG-EXC condition can bring as much as $750. They drop rapidly in value, just like any other milsurp, as condition declines. The military versions bring much more than the civilian versions. Before you sell the rifle, check out as many sources as possible. Ootookiak, where are you, you were the one that mentioned that the Ranger units were issued with EAL rifles that were drilled and tapped for scopes by armorers before issueing, but no mention of the scope types. That scope mount "may" have been done by the gov't... Rumour control has it that some of the EAL's issued to Ranger units were done with a side mount, and a Tasco 4X telescope. I have never had this "confirmed", however!

Lovely little rifles!
