My Pride and Joy!

While I don't have the nice background that Grant has...this is my Canadian Issued and marked No. 1 Mk III with a bayonet marked:

2RCC
RCE
272

That's a lovely rifle you have there. I'm drooling excessively at the moment.

RCE is definitely Royal Canadian Engineers. The 2RCC could be a couple of things. It might be a slight variation of "normal" (if there was ever a standardized "normal" for Canadian WWI stamps?) and signify 2nd Regiment of the Chasseurs Canadiens, which would often be stamped 4CC. Or, it could be a variation of 2nd Regiment of Cavalry, which would usually be stamped 4RC. Tough to say. Bayonets and rifles were often issued to several different units/regiments through their service lives.

Hope that helps.

My paltry offerings

I would like to say first off that i hate you all! Damn are those some nice LE's!!

Heres my two, nothing special unfortunately and the No1's pretty battered. Both are all matching though and have excellent bores, blueing etc. The No4's No9 bayo matches the rifle [and mag]

The No1 MkIII* 1918, Enfield.

The No4 MkII 1953, Fazakerly

and for the hell of it the 1907 pat bayo for the No1, Wilkinson also made in 1918, November in fact.

Tis but the beginnings :)

No 1's/cut away/other WW1 vets

The No 1's range from a No1*** to the run of the mil No1 Mk III. Two of the MkIII's are Canadian marked (one Navy). One is an early Indian rebuild which never recieved the ISHY screw and is Genderarme marked.
The Cut away was made for training useing a EY marked No1 MkIII.
The Ross is Marked DA ### and the P-17 is red banded and Canadian marked.
All of the numbers match, the bores are generally good to great, Wood? some of the "ears" have been trimmed (1xCanadian and the Indian rebuild).

If I get bored, maybe I'll shoot the rest of the Enfields and post them, or possibly the Mosins... dunno. I'm all photod out for today though ;)

WOW! those are all some great looking rifles. I have two, a #5 that I restored the wood and a #4Mk1 that was called a gun smith special for $80. Wood is oil soaked bit no real damage & metal is worn but with cosomoline coated on it. Don't know the Mfg. See the Military weapon section & help me out.
