enforcer clone question

IF a guy was to try an make an enfield enforcer clone I am curious about the top handuard. I believe that the #4 handguards are two piece and meet under the barrel band . On the enforcer the top wood extends slightly beyond the barrel band. Is this a specially made handguard? or how else could one achieve this look?
 
The Enforcer handguard is unique. I can measure a spare one I have to confirm. From memory it's 1/2" beyond the lower stock band for a length of 12.5". Also has scope clearance cut into it. No5 way too short , approx 9" in length. Ron

Yes. The rear of the rear handguard catches a sheet metal ring at the breech. The middle band covers the joint and the middle of the fore end. The front band holds the upper handguard and fore end together.

Yes distinctive to the L42A1 and various Enfield commercial versions. It is in fact inspired by the No.8 .22LR target rifle.

If you discover a stash of any of those specialized wood parts, furniture by definition, consider yourself owning a modest gold mine. The groove on the Enforcer fore end is not in the same place as the conventional No.4. It is further forward. Nor is it the same cross section. The No.4 is quite small around, while the target rifles are more robust to not flex (too much) when shooting with a sling. One remark that comes to mind about the L42A1's cross section. It is different again from either one, because a sniper rifle is to be gripped by a man hunting other hunters, not laid across his opened palm to shoot paper targets.

To make both parts, you'd need to graft an extension at the site of the original No.4 middle band groove. A new groove further forward would have to be shaped.
 
IMHO you need a 7.62 heavy barreled rifle to start with. They just don't look right with a skinny 303 barrel especially if it is full length and has bayonet lugs (I know because I did it and was not happy with result)
 
Enforcer - uses standard No4 forend cut 1/2" beyond the midband. Barrel channel opened up to .900 +/- for heavy barrel. Top wood 12.5" long, profile higher than std No4 guard and has relief cut for the large Pecar scope objective .
L42 - same forend as Enforcer. No relief cut for scope.
Envoy - uses forend similar in profile to the No8. Handguard is longer 13.5" - some have finger grooves others don't.
No4 7.62 conversion uses a similar set up to the Envoy with a different profile.

All dimensions given include the clearance for the rear handguard ring.

I have examples of all these in my collection.

Do have some spare wood.
